SCAR presents every year, since 2013, a lecture on scientific matters to the participants in the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meetings (ATCM), SCAR Lectures. In the XXXVII ATCM (Brasilia, Brasil, 2014) the SCAR Lecture was given by Dr. Carlota Escutia, Instituto Andaluz de Ciencias de la Tierra (CSIC-Universidad de Granada) and co-chair of the SCAR Scientific Research Programme (PAIS), about "Back to the Future: Past Antarctic Climates, Ice Sheet History & Their Relevance for Understanding Future Trends". In the XXXIX ATCM (Santiago, Chile, 2016), the SCAR Lecture was given by Dr. Jerónimo López-Martínez, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, president of SCAR and president of the National SCAR Committee of Spain, about "Exploring the Future of Scientific Research in Antarctica". |
